Travis Hunter is a unique talent that we haven’t seen at the college football level in some time. He is a bona fide Heisman Trophy candidate and a contender to be the No. 1 pick in the 2025 NFL Draft.
One of the things that truly exemplifies Hunter’s greatness is that he is a full-time player on both sides of the football. Hunter is a lead for Deion Sanders’ Colorado team as a receiver and a defensive back.
This past week, he showcased the ability to influence the game from anywhere on the field, and his performance was rewarded by becoming named Big 12 Player of the Week on both offense and defense. He is the first player in Big 12 history to be named player of the week on both sides of the ball after a great performance in the 34-23 win against Cincinnati.

On offense, Hunter had 9 catches for 153 yards and 2 touchdowns. The rest of the Colorado receivers had 170 yards in the game. His defense was equally as good with 2 tackles and 4 passes defended.
Hunter’s latest accolades keep him among the best 2024 Heisman odds, checking in at +330 via DraftKings. Fans can stay up to date with the latest via SDS’s sports betting apps.
The Buffaloes are now ranked in the top 25 for the first time since early last season and looking like a team that has a path to a College Football Playoff. They are 1 of 4 teams in the Big 12 that are within 1 game of each other atop the Big 12 standings, and none of them are on the Buffaloes schedule the rest of the way.
If Colorado can make the Big 12 Championship, then there could be more awards for Hunter in the future.
