Here are the five biggest takeaways from Florida’s 34-10 win over the Vanderbilt Commodores:

1. Florida’s playing  its best football of the season — Of course, that might not be saying much considering the level of football the Gators played for the first half of the season. But since the quarterback change, Florida has been on a roll on both sides of the football. Outscoring opponents 72-30, the Gators finally have some life again and they’re getting it at a very important time. Fans are finally seeing what they envisioned out of this team in the preseason.

2. Treon Harris makes a huge difference — The changing of quarterbacks for Florida has made a noticeable difference in the energy and confidence within the team. Most times, switching from an experienced quarterback to just a true freshman will restrict offenses, but it seems that Harris’ skillset allows the Gators to do more and be more effective. He’s faster than Driskel and has good enough arm strength to keep defenses honest. Having Harris under center should give the Gators more flexibility moving forward.

3. Jalen Tabor has a bright future — Everyone already knew that before last night’s game because of how Jalen Tabor has played so far this season, but his top play against Vanderbilt was the cherry on top. Tabor’s not only an excellent tackler in the open field, but he’s a very physical corner who isn’t afraid to press at the line of scrimmage. His one-handed INT in the fourth quarter showed just how great of an athlete he is, too. He and Vernon Hargreaves will be an incredibly tough duo for future opponents to try and pass against.

4. Loss of Leon Orr shouldn’t mean much for Gators defensive line — News of Orr’s dismissal came as a shock following the game last night, but despite losing Orr’s five years of experience from the defensive line rotation, his absence shouldn’t have much affect. Florida’s proven in recent weeks that its front seven is more than capable of generating constant pressure on the quarterback. Last night, Vandy QB Johnny McCrary avoided sacks, but it was clear that Florida’s pressure affected him. Guys like Dante Fowler, Alex McCalister and Jonathan Bullard continue to have huge seasons and Orr’s dismissal should have a minimal impact moving forward.

5. Will Muschamp is likely one win away from keeping his job — No one knows exactly what Jeremy Foley is thinking, but he’s hasn’t exactly hidden his desire to not fire Muschamp. With the program turning things around in recent weeks and apparently heading in a positive direction — what would be a 5-3 record in conference play to go along with at least seven wins on the season — I believe there’s too many aspects in Muschamp’s favor to let him go. Barring an absolutely embarrassing loss against Florida State or an unthinkable defeat to Eastern Kentucky, Muschamp should be back in the orange and blue with a win against South Carolina.
