OFFENSE: B+

Treon Harris paced the UF offense with 276 total yards. While he only scored touchdowns running the football, he threw for 225 yards on 13-of-20 passing. Coming into the game, Harris throwing the football and throwing it well was easily the most important question that needed to be answered, especially after just six attempts against Georgia. The true freshman quarterback displayed a strong arm on several throws, including a few deep balls although he only completed one of them. Florida’s offense didn’t lose much momentum from last week’s win over Georgia and running backs Kelvin Taylor and Matt Jones again led the team in rushing with 145 yards combined. There’s no question that the Gators’ offense looks much more energetic and formidable with Harris under center.

DEFENSE: A

Aside from the lone Vandy touchdown which came in the first quarter, Florida’s defense virtually shut down the Commodores. Amazingly, the Gators did not record a single sack all night, but there’s no question Florida’s pressure was constant and disruptive in Vandy’s backfield. The pressure eventually led to three INTs in the fourth quarter. All in all, Florida forced five turnovers on the night. Nothing came easy for Vanderbilt, who averaged just five yards per pass and only 2.9 yards per rush. Vandy also had a tough time on 3rd downs as Florida’s defense only allowed 3-of-15 3rd down conversions.

SPECIAL TEAMS: B+

Punter Kyle Christy continued to deliver big time punts when called upon, including a 58 yard-boot. Frankie Velez was solid from short to mid-range once again, nailing his 2-of-2 field goal attempts and four PATs. In the return game, Andre Debose showed some flashes, but wasn’t able to pull of a big return against the ‘Dores. It was an efficient, albeit unspectacular performance from Florida’s special teams unit.

COACHING: B+

Florida showed no sort of let down following a big win last week against Georgia. The Gators were able to travel up to Nashville and take care of business as expected, winning in convincing fashion. They did struggle mightily with penalties, committing 10 for 77 yards, but overall Will Muschamp and the coaching staff should be credited with getting their team ready mentally.

OVERALL: A-

The Gators recorded their second straight impressive performance, following up their win against Georgia with another dominating victory versus Vanderbilt. Defensively, Florida is clicking on all cylinders and there’s no question that Treon Harris has given the UF offense new life. So far, Florida’s looked like a different team since the quarterback change and the Gators are still (somehow) in the SEC East title race. A tricky South Carolina matchup awaits them in The Swamp a week from now.
