Anthony Richardson played a big part in Florida’s wins over in-state opponents FAU, USF and FSU, but he reportedly won’t be suiting up against UCF.

Graham Hall of Gatorsports.com is reporting, per sources, that Richardson is not expected to play in the Dec. 23 game against the Knights. Hall states that Richardson recently underwent a procedure on his right knee and has not taken part in bowl practices, adding the second-year quarterback is focused on his recovery. With Richardson out, Jones is expected to start.

Richardson has dealt with injury issues throughout 2021. He hurt his hamstring in Week 2 at USF and missed Florida’s next 2 games against Alabama and Tennessee. In the Oct. 30 loss against Georgia, Richardson suffered a concussion. In November, Dan Mullen revealed that Richardson did not play in Florida’s game at South Carolina because the redshirt freshman hurt his knee dancing in the team hotel. In Florida’s regular-season finale, Richardson limped off the field on the first possession of the game. He returned in the second half, leading the Gators to a 24-21 victory.

Richardson has appeared in 7 games, going 38-of-64 passing for 529 yards, 6 touchdowns and 5 interceptions while rushing 51 times for 401 yards and 3 TDs.
