Florida quarterback Anthony Richardson was unable to play Saturday night in the Gators’ shocking 40-17 loss at South Carolina.

Most assumed it was because he was still in concussion protocol following an injury against Georgia.

On Monday, however, Dan Mullen revealed that Richardson had actually been cleared to play against the Gamecocks only to have injured himself while dancing in his hotel room the night before the game.

Richardson underwent an MRI, which revealed no significant damage, so he should be able to play on Saturday against Samford should there be no additional issues during practice this week.

Richardson attempted to offer a humorous take on the situation by tweeting the following on Monday afternoon:

Whether or not his coach will find his tweet amusing remains to be seen.

Florida’s game with Samford on Saturday is set for noon EST and will air on ESPN+ and SEC+.
