Billy Napier has Florida football on a little bit of an upswing suddenly after last Saturday’s takedown of LSU at The Swamp.

The Gators are still only 5-5, and they did get smacked pretty good at Texas the week before. But the vibes around Gainesville are much better than they were earlier this season, with freshman DJ Lagway having taken control of the quarterback position.

This Saturday, Napier’s guys can follow the upset of one ranked team with an upset of another, as Lane Kiffin brings Ole Miss to The Swamp. The Rebels are 8-2 and were ranked 9th in Tuesday night’s latest College Football Playoff rankings. Florida could effectively end Ole Miss’s Playoff dreams by knocking the Rebels off.

Those Playoff dreams don’t exist in Gainesville, at least not this season, despite the recent optimism. But Napier did have some candid advice for the desperate Playoff contenders who have everything to play for and wait anxiously for those rankings to be released every Tuesday night:

“Handle your business and you don’t have to worry about the (Playoff) committee,” said Napier during the weekly SEC head coaches’ media call.

Of course, Napier is hoping that Ole Miss doesn’t take care of its business this Saturday. He’s hoping his Gators put Kiffin’s dreams of a Playoff berth on ice before the next rankings are even revealed next Tuesday.
