Billy Napier was asked about Emory Jones at a Friday press conference, and he said the quarterback cares about Florida and wants to represent the program the right way.

Jones, who entered the transfer portal but played in the Gasparilla Bowl, has made a positive impression on Napier.

“Emory’s here, he’s in class, he’s participating, he’s done a fantastic job with all the things we’ve asked him to do,” Napier said. “I would hope that our fans and all the people out there would understand what a big deal that is. This is a guy who’s a class act. It’s been very impressive to me, the caliber of person that he is. He’s managed a very difficult situation well. And anything that’s happened in the past, it’s important for the players, but all the people that care about the University of Florida that care about our football program to kind of separate those things.”

Napier said the staff has given each player a new beginning, a fresh start, and it’s important that the fans do that. About the rest of the quarterbacks, Napier is pleased, but wants to wait until they practice to comment further.

“I couldn’t be more excited about that room,” Napier said.
