Tampa Bay Buccaneers coach Bruce Arians has worked with some great quarterbacks in his career — Peyton Manning, Ben Roethlisberger, Andrew Luck and, most recently, Tom Brady.

So, when it comes to quarterbacks, he knows what he’s talking about. That makes what he said about former Florida QB Kyle Trask, the Buccaneers’ second-round pick, even more impressive.

After a few offseason workouts and practices, Arians said Trask’s mental fortitude reminds him of what Andrew Luck did as a rookie in 2012 (via the Tampa Bay Times):

“Mentally-wise, he’s not far behind what Andrew did in the same offense, and what Andrew did that (rookie) year (2012) is unbelievable,” Arians said. “I’m not saying he’s Andrew Luck, but mentally he’s still really sharp.”

Trask is currently going through OTAs with the Buccaneers. He won’t supplant Brady in 2021, but he could end up being a very capable backup as a rookie.
