Dan Mullen hot seat watch: Florida falls to 5-6 with loss to Mizzou
Many Florida football observers, including Steve Spurrier, felt that heading into Saturday, Dan Mullen’s future at Florida would be decided by the Gators’ final 2 games of the 2021 season. Saturday, Mullen’s team dropped the first of those 2 games, falling 24-23 to Missouri in overtime.
The loss makes the Gators 5-6 on the 2021 season and 2-9 in their last 11 games against Power 5 competition, going back to the 3-game losing skid to end the 2020 campaign. The majority of Florida’s 2021 wins have come against Group of 5 and FCS competition (FAU, USF and Samford).
Florida could get a 6th win for bowl eligibility in the season finale against in-state rival Florida State, but Mullen did not help his cause on Saturday.
Dan Mullen gonna get fired walking off the field.
