It’s a busy weekend in Gainesville. Florida basketball is hosting No. 1 Baylor. The O’Dome crowd got a special visit from UF football coach Dan Mullen during halftime.

As you can see in the video below, Mullen thanked Gators fans for the strong showing at home in The Swamp and helping make the Orange Bowl game against Virginia in Miami Gardens feel like a home game.

UF’s 36-28 win over UVA gave the Gators a final record of 11-2 for the 2019 campaign. Florida finished No. 6 in the final Associated Press Top 25. In two seasons, Mullen’s Gators have now finished with double-digit wins and ranked in the top 10 twice. Mullen told Gators fans it’s just the beginning, saying the program is on its way to competing for SEC titles and national championships.

“I promise you this. That’s just the beginning,” Mullen told the crowd. “We finished in the top-10 the last two years, and that’s just the beginning.”

With Kyle Trask, Kyle Pitts and other key contributors returning for the upcoming 2020 season, Florida is getting some early buzz as the new favorite in the SEC East and a potential College Football Playoff team.

Unfortunately for the Gators, the basketball game itself isn’t going so well. Baylor has a double-digit lead with under seven minutes remaining.
