Mike White is expected to have a new position to fill on his Florida coaching staff.

That’s due to the fact that Gator assistant coach Darris Nichols is taking over the head coaching position at Radford. The official announcement is expected to be announced on Wednesday.

This news is being reported by both Jeff Goodman of Stadium and Jon Rothstein of CBS Sports.

Nichols has been on staff in Gainesville for six seasons. During his time with the Florida basketball program, the Gators have experienced four 20-win seasons and three NCAA Tournament bids.

White’s connection to Nichols goes back beyond their days in Gainesville as Florida’s head coach brought his former Louisiana Tech assistant with him when he was hired to be the new Gators coach.

Nichols played his college basketball at West Virginia.
