Of all the teams in the Southeastern Conference, the one that must want training camp to arrive as soon as possible is the team down in Gainesville.

Following a tremendous close to the 2018 season and the 2019 recruiting cycle, Dan Mullen’s program seems a bit snakebitten at this point after a challenging offseason. The bad news apparently isn’t over, however, as now it’s been reported that a young defender has been lost for the upcoming season.

According to Corey Bender of Gators Territory, Florida’s redshirt freshman David Reese has been lost for the season. This Reese is not to be confused with senior Gator linebacker David Reese, who is among the best linebackers in the entire SEC.

Gators Territory is reporting that the redshirt freshman Reese tore his Achilles during an offseason workout and will not be able to return this fall. Reese took a redshirt last season after appearing in two games for the Gators. He made four tackles during his debut season in Gainesville.

The Fort Pierce native was a four-star signee in the 2018 recruiting cycle.
