DJ Lagway is a game-time decision this weekend against Texas, according to a report.

Lagway suffered a hamstring injury last weekend in Florida’s loss to Georgia, but coach Billy Napier expressed some optimism earlier in the week that he may be able to suit up against the Longhorns.

On Friday afternoon, On3’s Pete Nakos reported that Lagway is set to be a game-time decision against Texas. Nakos added that playing against UT is “important” to Lagway, who hails from Willis, Texas.

If Lagway can’t go against Texas, it will presumably be former Yale transfer Aidan Warner who gets the nod. Florida would be down to its third-string QB, as the Gators have already lost Graham Mertz for the season as well.

Warner stepped in for Lagway against Georgia last weekend, but struggled against the Bulldogs in his first exposure to an SEC defense. He threw for just 66 yards and 1 interception on 22 attempts against the Bulldogs.

Florida is 4-4 on the season, meaning the Gators still need 2 wins in order to achieve bowl eligibility in 2024. Kickoff from Austin is set for 12 p.m. ET on Saturday afternoon.
