Oregon coach Willie Taggart has mentioned as a candidate for the Florida coaching opening behind other candidates like Chip Kelly, Scott Frost and Dan Mullen. And while Taggart has tried to tamp down reports, an ESPN insider said he may be reaching for the exit.

“There’s been talk of Willie Taggart wanting to get out of Oregon,” ESPN’s Gene Wojciechowski said on College Football Live, during a segment about the Ole Miss opening and interim coach Matt Luke.

Taggart previously shared his blunt response about a possible move after his son texted him asking if the family was moving again.

Taggart is a native of the Sunshine State, but he previously coached at South Florida where he led the Bulls for four years. The program went from 2-10 his first year, to 10-2 in 2016. The Ducks are currently 5-5 in his first season, including 2-5 in the Pac-12.

The Bradenton, Fla. native played at Western Kentucky where he was later the head coach for three seasons prior to USF.

In the initial days after the Florida job came open, reports surfaced about Florida contacting Taggart or his agent, but the coach knocked down that notion.
