The Florida defense suffered a blow to its depth after freshman Ethan Pouncey revealed on Saturday that he apparently suffered an undisclosed serious injury.

Ethan Pouncey shared on his private Instagram account a picture of himself using crutches in what appeared to be a hospital or medical facility, Zach Goodall of SI All Gators reported. The type of injury is not clear, and Florida hasn’t discussed it.

“Another obstacle to overcome but why would I quit now,” Pouncey wrote in his post. “I’m grateful to be in this position but I’m not satisfied yet.”

Pouncey, a top-100 cornerback, enrolled in January with his brother, former Texas WR Jordan Pouncey and his brother, top-100 cornerback Ethan Pouncey. Their older cousins are the Pouncey twins, Maurkice and Mike, who were on the Gators’ 2008 national championship team before they became first-round picks in the NFL Draft.

Ethan is a 4-star prospect from Winter Park, Florida, and had a reported 21 offers, according to 247Sports. He’s listed at 6-foot-1 and 160 pounds and is the No. 10 cornerback recruit in the 2020 class, and No. 24-ranked player in Florida.

This is something to monitor when coach Dan Mullen addresses it soon, and how the depth of the Florida defense changes because of the timeline of this injury and recovery period.
