The Florida Gators got back into the win column Saturday against Colorado State 48-10, which tied a record for the hottest game ever recorded in The Swamp, but it wasn’t pretty to start.

Heading into Saturday, everyone was watching QB Feleipe Franks and how he bounced back after last week’s loss to Kentucky. And he didn’t start well.

The signal caller started 0-for-6 against the Rams before finishing 8-for-9 with two touchdowns. Franks missed RB Jordan Scarlett on the first drive of the game, and the offense went three-and-out. Franks threw an INT on the next series, too, as the boos started at The Swamp.

But Franks turned things on later in the game. He ended up finishing 8-of-15 for 119 yards and two TDs.

RBs Dameon Pierce and Jordan Scarlett each recorded one TD, and the offense racked up 211 rushing yards.

The Gators’ defense also forced three turnovers.

Special teams, however, was really the story of the game. The Gators blocked one punt and recovered a fumble on another punt attempt (by the punter). The blocked punt was recovered for a TD by WR Tyrie Cleveland. Kicker Evan McPherson also made two field goals. WR Freddie Swain also returned a punt for an 85-yard TD, which at that time gave the Gators more yards on that return (85) than it had passing (81).

Seventeen points off special teams play was huge Saturday, and Florida looks to continue to ride that momentum into the Tennessee game.
