Florida’s offer comes very late in the cycle and during the recruiting dead period, a time where Jim McElwain and the staff cannot initiate contact with Tagovailoa to make their pitch. The four-star prospect is considered the No. 1 dual-threat quarterback of the 2017 class by 247Sports Composite and was also recently offered by LSU.
The Gators currently have St. Thomas Aquinas (Fort Lauderdale, Fla.) product Jake Allen committed. Allen is a three-star prospect and 247Sports Composite’s No. 23 pro-style prospect.
UF recently pursued Baylor transfer Jake Stidham, who chose Auburn.
