Florida lost a big piece of its offensive line to the transfer portal on Friday as Richie Leonard is moving on from the program.
Leonard has been with Florida since 2020. He redshirted as a freshman, then played in 8 games in 2021 with 1 start. Leonard saw action in 11 games last season, starting 1 of them. This year, Leonard started all 12 games at left guard for the Gators with a team-high 755 snaps on the OL.
Here’s what Leonard had to say about his decision:
“I would like to thank the University of Florida for my time there. Glad I can say I am an alumnus of this great institution,” said Leonard. “With that being said I am entering my name in the transfer portal as a grad transfer.”

Florida earned a commitment from Leonard as a 3-star prospect in the 2020 class. He was the 48th-ranked guard in the class, per the 247Sports Composite. Leonard is native of Cocoa (Fla.) High School. Outside of Florida he had SEC offers from Kentucky, Tennessee, and Missouri.
The Gators didn’t make a bowl game this season after a 5-win campaign. Florida was 5-2 after beating South Carolina in Week 7, but then lost 5 straight games to close out the year.
