For the second time in a 24-hour period, the Florida Gators suffered a decommitment for their 2022 class, and that means they’re down to 8 recruits at the moment.

Winter Garden, Florida and West Orange 4-star wide receiver Jayden Gibson made his announcement Wednesday afternoon. He is rated the No. 27 wide receiver in the class of 2022, and the No. 20 player in the Sunshine State, according to the 247Sports Composite. When Gibson originally committed to Florida 2 months ago, he was the program’s 15th commit of this class. He’s listed at 6-foot-5 and 185 pounds.

This followed another decommitment in the last 24 hours from Nick Evers, a 4-star QB out of Texas.

“It saddens me to announce this, but after long thought, prayer, and events that have transpired recently, I have decided to recommit from the University of Florida,” Gibson posted on social media. “Thank you and I wish them the best of luck. I want to thank the Gator faithful for their undying love and support, as well as coach [Dan] Mullen Coach Billy G, and the rest of the past staff who believed in me and blessed me with the opportunity to play for them. Thank you to all of my supporters, family, and friends for continuing to show love. With that being said, I’m looking to find a new hope ASAP, and my recruitment is now open.”
