Florida to commemorate late Gators cheerleader Mr. Two Bits
Florida has revealed its plans to commemorate late cheerleader and superfan George Edmondson, better known to Gator Nation as Mr. Two Bits, who passed in July at the age of 97.
Edmondson, who made the “Two-Bits, Four-Bits, Six-Bits, a Dollar. All for the Gators, Stand Up and holler!” cheer famous in The Swamp, will be remembered with a mural inside Gate 1 of Ben Hill Griffin Stadium. UF released an image (below) of the mural Monday morning.
In addition to the mural, the University Athletic Association is offering one free Mr. Two Bits commemorative t-shirt for every fan who purchases a ticket to Florida’s home opener against UT Martin (Sept. 7, 7:30 p.m. ET kickoff) at this link by Monday, Aug. 12 at 11:59 p.m. Fans will be asked for their t-shirt sizes upon checkout. Alumni season ticket holders aren’t getting left out, as Gator Boosters will be providing each individual with a booster membership the opportunity to redeem a free t-shirt with the option of purchasing additional ones. The shirt replicates the classic Two Bits look Gators fans came to know and love over the years. At the UT Martin game, members of the Edmondson family will be teaming up to be the Gators ‘Celebrity Two Bits’ that evening.
