Dan Mullen’s time as the head coach at Florida is extremely limited, according to multiple reports.

Pete Thamel of Yahoo Sports and Pat Forde of Sports Illustrated agreed that the Gators will make a change soon in columns released this weekend. Those opinions came after Florida beat Samford 70-52. Yes, it was a win but Florida trailed Samford by 14 points despite being five-touchdown favorites in the game.

“With the opening of the Florida job appearing imminent in the upcoming weeks, the backdrop of the coaching industry thrusts forward and becomes just as compelling as the competition for one of the four College Football Playoff spots,” Thamel wrote in this report.

Forde agreed that Mullen’s demise is pending.

“The Dan Mullen Era has crashed and cannot be revived,” Forde wrote in this report. “It’s over. He may finish the season but he cannot carry on into 2022 in Gainesville with any kind of enthusiastic backing.”

It’s tough to argue with that sentiment. Florida was expected to compete for the SEC Eastern division but is 5-5 and fifth in the division with a 2-5 record in the SEC. Florida plays at Missouri on Saturday.
