It was a breakthrough performance against a marquee opponent.

Now the challenge of meeting expectations begins in earnest for Florida quarterback Will Grier.

The redshirt freshman torched Ole Miss last week, throwing four touchdown passes in a 38-10 victory that vaulted the unbeaten Gators to No. 11 in the Associated Press Top 25 Poll.

Grier handled virtually everything with aplomb Saturday, beginning with making the right pre-snap reads and including completing difficult back-foot throws. I particularly liked how he used his eyes to sell one route to defenders while creating space for his receivers.

I specifically looked at what he did right on three of his four touchdown throws. Short answer? A lot.

That’s why Gators fans should be so optimistic about his future.
