To stay competitive in the SEC, it costs money, something Florida knows very well. Taking that into consideration, the Gators are more than willing to spend top dollar to assemble a coaching staff.

News broke Friday outlining just how much Florida was willing to pay each of Jim McElwain’s staff.

When former defensive coordinator Geoff Collins left to take over the Temple program, Randy Shannon was the main benefactor. Shannon was soon named the new defensive coordinator in Gainesville and earned the paycheck worthy of a top defensive assistant in the SEC.

Along with the new title, Shannon was given a three-year deal worth $890,000, up from $490,000 last year.

The Gators new running backs coach Seider will make $335,000 this season. New secondary coach Corey Bell will make $290,000 in 2017 and $315,000 in 2018. Offensive line coach Brad Davis will earn the same amounts as Bell each of the next two seasons. All three assistant coaches agreed to two-year deals with Florida.
