Florida coach Dan Mullen is rounding into the type of coach, and the Gators are delivering the type of production, that UF faithful thought they were getting when they hired Mullen from Mississippi State.

SEC Network analyst Gene Chizik has noticed that progression as well, and sees Mullen in a class by himself with quarterback development and play-calling on game days.

“You have a play-caller in Dan Mullen and let’s be honest … the way he develops quarterbacks, the way he calls games on game day I don’t know there’s many or any in his league,” former Auburn head coach Gene Chizik said Saturday night on SEC Football Final, per 247Sports. “They go on a 14-play, 75-yard touchdown drive or they go on a four-play (drive). Pick your poison. This is one of the most potent offenses in college football and they seem to get better every week.”

QB Kyle Trask completed 23 of 29 passes for 356 yards and six touchdowns, doing his damage in the first half when he threw five scores to fuel a 28-point second quarter. That’s part of the reason Trask is being mentioned among Heisman Trophy contenders.

Florida is closing in on its first SEC East division title since 2016 largely behind the play of Trask and the high-powered Florida offense.
