Inciting a brawl? Reaction pours in about Dan Mullen facing a fine following halftime fight
By Keith Farner
Published:
Florida coach Dan Mullen is facing a hefty fine if the immediate reaction on social media is close to being on target.
A near-consensus reaction thought Mullen went over the line in the halftime fight with Missouri where players and coaches from both sidelines met on the field, punches were thrown, and three players were ejected. Mullen was seen coming out of the tunnel to pump up the crowd at The Swamp following a chat with the referee and Missouri coach Eli Drinkwitz.
Here is a sampling of the immediate reaction:

So Dan Mullen essentially started that brawl (his players were walking off the field when he ran out there) during a pandemic, then got a talking-to from the refs and came BACK onto the field to rile up the crowd? The SEC ought to levy the biggest fine it’s got.

Having now watched the entire sequence starting with the hit on Trask — the whole melee started with Mullen running on to the field like a mad man to confront the refs.
And then he egged on the crowd like a wrestler on his way out.
He’s had an interesting few weeks.

If @Lane_Kiffin got fined $25,000 for tweeting, Dan Mullen is about to lose the GDP of a medium-sized country.

Dan Mullen needs to be fined.

Mullen’s last few weeks have been a disgrace https://t.co/dhhfLQNtQf

All players receive unsportsmanlike penalties. No. 0 for Missouri and Carter and Powell for the #Gators are ejected. I’d imagine this would result in a FAT fine for Mullen, as that was worse than a RT from Lane Kiffin.

Dan Mullen after this game is gonna make @Lane_Kiffin fine look like pocket change.

How many players will Florida have suspended for next weekend’s game against Georgia? Dan Mullen deserves a suspension or at least a fine too. #SEC #mizzou https://t.co/fsx2toxc0J

No mask on for Mullen. Fine his ass! Trashiest team in the country and Mullen fully supports this brawl. https://t.co/hsKUO3IAim
