Jalen Kitna was arrested on Wednesday and booked on charges related to child pornography, according to a Gainesville police spokesperson and reported by CBS4 News Gainesville.

Not long after the arrest was reported by media outlets, the University of Florida released a statement about the development.

“We are shocked and saddened to hear of the news involving Jalen Kitna. These are extremely serious charges and the University of Florida and the UAA have zero tolerance for such behavior. Jalen has been suspended indefinitely,” the statement read via Mark Long of the Associated Press.

TMZ reported that there were 5 counts of charges, while Matt Baker of the Tampa Bay Times reported that it’s 10 counts.

Kitna is the son of former NFL QB Jon Kitna, and appeared in 4 games for the Gators in 2022. He completed 10 of his 14 passes for 181 yards and a touchdown. He was the backup quarterback to starter Anthony Richardson this season as the Gators finished the regular season with a 6-6 overall record.
