Jesse Palmer was on the call for his alma mater Florida’s matchup with Texas A&M on Saturday, a game the Gators lost 33-20.

So, while Florida trailed by 13 with 2 minutes left in the 4th quarter, the camera panned to The Swamp’s student section. Standing there was a UF student in orange and blue overalls, who was swinging a shirt around and making plenty of noise in front of a group of girls that he appeared to be talking to.

Palmer was quick to point out that the Florida fan was likely ‘in the friend zone.’

“I’m gonna make a bold prediction, I’m gonna say that guy is in the friend zone,” Palmer said to his calling partner Joe Tessitore. “I’m gonna say that he’s a good listener.”

Tessitore responded with a laugh, and Palmer proceeded to explain that he has an eye for these kinds of things given his role in his other job as host of ABC’s The Bachelor/The Bachelorette.

Sideline reporter Katie George chimed in, saying to not kick the man while he’s down.

“I’m not saying he’s a bad guy, just saying that I don’t think he’s dating anybody in the [camera] shot right now,” Palmer said.

Tough times for many in Gainesville.
