Jim McElwain faces tough questions about his offense following tough Michigan loss

Florida coach Jim McElwain on Monday announced plans for play-calling and quarterback play moving forward.
In a press conference with reporters, McElwain initially said Feleipe Franks would start at quarterback next against Northern Colorado, while he at first didn’t explain a change in play-calling, then said offensive coordinator Doug Nussmeier would continue to call plays following the 33-17 loss to Michigan.
McElwain said Franks was hurt by mistakes of other players, including an offensive lineman who stepped on a foot, Malik Zaire, who replaced Franks, was “looking at getting out of the pocket before delivering the ball.” McElwain said they also considered going with Luke Del Rio in a two-minute situation.
On a play-calling change, McElwain said, “We’re not doing that right now. We’re making sure that guys need to touch it, touch it and those things get called. … There were a whole lot of things in the plan. The series that we put together. It’s tough to call. We’ve got to get better as a staff and make sure things fit and we’ll put together a plan this week.”
Mac said he is sticking with Feleipe Franks at QB. 'That was the plan.'

Multiple reporters asked McElwain about fans being disappointed or distraught in the loss.
“It’s one game. Yet I just love the fact that we have fans,” McElwain said. “That’s a good thing. I don’t take that as a negative at all. That’s one of things that drew me here is the fact that there’s a lot of passionate people out here for the Gators. We’re all entitled to our opinion and I appreciate it. We’re working to build this thing into something great.”
