Joel Klatt shares his favorite NFL landing spot for Anthony Richardson

Joel Klatt has pegged Anthony Richardson as the 9th-best prospect in his overall NFL Draft rankings, as well as the 3rd-best quarterback in the mix.
Klatt even believes that if Richardson’s ability is refined, he could be the best player in the league. And then Klatt suggested that the Raiders could draft up from No. 7 overall in part because the franchise has a history of making draft trades.
“I know that at times, that has burned them in the past. But this guy is a superior player to JaMarcus Russell, so I don’t want to hear those comparisons, because he’s got so much more in his toolkit,” Klatt said.
Klatt then raised the point about Las Vegas Raiders coach Josh McDaniels having experience from Bill Belichick with the New England Patriots, which is that you tailor the approach more to what the player can do, versus what a player can’t do.
“Then let’s build a team around that,” he said. “They’re a traits organization, the Raiders are a traits organization. You’ve got this head coach who has taken flyers in the past, maybe he’s willing to do that again.”
