Max Brown, who started Florida’s final game of the season at quarterback following an injury to Graham Mertz, has announced his transfer destination after hitting the portal on Dec. 4.

Brown will be heading north to play for Charlotte, which plays in the Conference USA and finished this past season 3-9 under first-year head coach Biff Poggi.

Here’s Brown’s post announcing his transfer destination on X, formerly Twitter.

Brown has played 2 seasons at Florida. He was not a highly-rated prospect out of high school, considered to be the No. 1557 overall recruit in the 2022 cycle, as well as the No. 96 overall QB.

Brown saw action in 4 games this past season. He completed 19 of his 28 passing attempts for 192 yards and 1 interception against the Seminoles and was sacked 6 times. He also saw action against Mizzou, Vanderbilt and McNeese.

With DJ Lagway incoming and Graham Mertz returning for another season in Gainesville, it was always unlikely for Brown to see the field again for the Gators. So, this move is hardly surprising and puts Brown in a position to start for a rebuilding G5 program.
