Florida and Florida State players had to be separated in the aftermath of UF’s blowout win over the Noles in Tallahassee on Saturday.

The skirmish happened as Florida players planted a flag at midfield in celebration of their 31-11 win over Florida State. This incident follows a popular pattern that occurred in multiple rivalry games this weekend, although there was one element that made this one unique.

The Florida flag was ultimately disposed of by Florida State coach Mike Norvell, who appeared quite frustrated with Florida coach Billy Napier. Here’s a replay of the ordeal:

Here’s a clip from ESPN’s broadcast showing Norvell’s frustration with Napier:

Florida State closes out the 2024 season with a 2-10 record. It was a disaster campaign that saw FSU make multiple in-season firings on Norvell’s staff. It also marked Florida State’s worst-ever performance in ACC play (1-7).

Florida, meanwhile, appears to be trending upwards under Billy Napier. The Gators finished the regular season with 3 consecutive wins and will be heading to a bowl game this winter.

This victory marked Florida’s first win in Tallahassee since the 2018 season. The Gators are now 38-28-2 all-time against Florida State.
