New Florida coach Dan Mullen held his first press conference as the Gators’ top guy on Monday afternoon, and said some things Florida fans will love hearing.
However, Mullen also had to address some recent comments made by his wife, Megan, about how much better Starkville was than Gainesville.
The former Mississippi State coach handled the questions in stride, though, saying Megan is fully on board with the family’s move to Gainesville. He said her original quotes were just about the pressure to win at Florida:
Mullen on his wife's comments about Gainesville.
"That was taken in the context of the pressures of being a wife of a coach in the Southeastern Conference."
"If Megan didn't pick Florida, we wouldn't be at Florida."

Mullen: 'I can guarantee you this: If (my wife) didn’t pick Florida, we wouldn’t be at Florida.' #Gators

It seems Florida fans are generally happy to have Mullen on board, returning to the team with which he won two national titles (in 2006 and 2008) while serving as Urban Meyer’s offensive coordinator.
Therefore, it stands to reason that Gator Nation will look past Megan’s comments, especially if Dan can lead the Gators to more wins than his predecessors.
