So, this whole baseball thing may be working out for Tim Tebow.

According to a report by the New York Post, the Mets are considering giving Tebow a promotion within the organization. There have been discussions about moving Tebow up, but that likely won’t happen before the All-Star Game at midseason.

Tebow started out somewhat slowly for the organization despite hitting a bomb in his first minor league at bat. Of course, during the struggles, many pointed at Tebow and poked fun, but it’s just taken him a little bit to get in a rhythm at the plate. Remember, he hasn’t played baseball since high school; so, it’s normal for a player facing 90 mph fastballs and nasty sliders every night to take a bit of time to adjust.

In fact, Tebow has an .849 OPS — a sabermetric baseball statistic calculated as the sum of a player’s on-base percentage and slugging average — in his last 16 games. In 28 games for the single-A Columbia Fireflies, Tebow is hitting .250 with two home runs and 11 RBIs.

Tebow recently signed an extension with ESPN, but that won’t interfere with his MLB career.
