While ESPN has been laying talented folks off in its business, it has signed one of its biggest assets to a multiyear extension, according to ESPN Media Zone.

Former Florida QB Tim Tebow has a new deal, and it won’t affect him playing minor league baseball either. His deal will let him continue to be an icon on the Saturday pregame show SEC Nation and College Football Playoff programming.

“Over the last three years ESPN and the SEC Nation crew have become like family,” said Tebow in a release. “I love the passion that SEC fans bring to our set every Saturday morning and I look forward to continuing to share my own love of the game with fans on ESPN and SEC Network.”

Tebow has continuted to ESPN’s platforms since 2014.

“Tim brings a wealth of knowledge and passion to his analysis of college football and surprised many fans with his strong opinions and engaging presence on SEC Nation,” said Stephanie Druley, ESPN senior vice president, event and studio production. “His unique experiences within the SEC and his broad national fan base are huge assets to SEC Nation and ESPN’s larger CFP coverage.”

Tebow currently plays for the Mets’ single-A team in Columbia, South Carolina, and the release specifically states the extension won’t affect Tebow’s professional baseball career.

I do have to say that Tebow gets better and better on TV. Just like his football career, perhaps he’s not the most talented, but he’ll outwork anyone. And that’s what he’s done. He plans and prepares well, and it really plays well on TV as an analyst.
