Princely Umanmielen, a current Ole Miss defensive end, is well-known in Gainesville.

After all, Umanmielen played for Florida from 2020-2023, racking up 99 total tackles, 26 tackles for loss and 7 sacks as he rose up NFL Draft boards over a 4-year career with the Gators.

He opted to transfer to Ole Miss for his final year of eligibility, and the Gator faithful let him hear about it during the Rebels’ 24-17 loss to Florida on Saturday.

Towards the end of the game, Umanmielen was the target of plenty of comments from fans, and it led to him leaving the field early and attempting to charge up the ramp outside of the stadium to approach fans that were directing messages at him.

Umanmielen had to be held back by security soon after, and he was then escorted to the team’s bus.

Umanmielen released a statement Sunday on what occurred in the moment:

“I did let my emotions get the best of me due to people yelling recklessly at me, but putting my hands on anyone wasn’t even a thought,” Umanmielen wrote in an X post. “Nevertheless I had fun in my last game in The Swamp, brought back amazing memories. Wish we could’ve left w the dub. Regardless God is always good. The bible’s says “Rejoice always, pray continually, give thanks in all circumstances; for this is God’s will for you in Christ Jesus. I loved every-bit of my 4 years at Florida and wouldn’t trade it for anything. God bless all of you”
