Florida could be losing as many as three of their top defensive linemen, but help is reportedly on the way. LB/DE Jonathan Greenard will transfer to UF after graduating from Louisville, according to a report by Cardinal Sports.

As a redshirt sophomore in 2017, Greenard led Louisville with 15.5 tackles for loss and tied for the team lead with seven sacks. He suffered a wrist injury in Week 1 of 2018 and did not return.

Greenard has a clear opportunity for playing time next year on Florida’s defense. The Gators are certain to lose senior DE Cece Jefferson to graduation. True junior DE Jachai Polite and redshirt junior DE Jabari Zuniga could also be NFL bound. Polite finished first on the team in sacks with 11. Zuniga was second with 6.5.

It’s also a reunion with Todd Grantham for Greenard. The current Florida defensive coordinator held the same position at Louisville from 2014-16.
