On Tuesday, Florida announced 5 football players had tested positive for COVID-19. The news came ahead of the shutdown of all team activities. New reports say the number is up to 19 positive cases.

Payton Titus of The Independent Florida Alligator was first to report 19 cases on the football team. Titus shared there was some pushback from sources that the number might have been too high, but later published the number after additional reporting. Mark Long of the Associated Press shared that an AP source confirmed that there are now 19 positive tests on the football team.

Florida insider Frank Frangie of 1010XL Jacksonville shared on Tuesday afternoon that the Gators are planning to practice Wednesday and play LSU on Saturday.

Any new testing information and results of contact tracing Wednesday figure to be important as to deciding whether the UF-LSU game is able to be played. The game is currently scheduled for 4 p.m. ET Saturday in Gainesville, airing on ESPN.
