Sterlin Thompson was a walk-off hero for the first time in his college baseball career on Tuesday night, and it couldn’t have come at a better time for the Florida Gators.

Taking on rival Florida State, the game was tied 5-5 heading into the bottom of the ninth inning.

With a runner on base, Thompson stepped to the plate with 2 outs and walloped this walk-off home run over the right-field wall to give the Gators a 7-5 victory:

Florida has now beaten FSU in 19 of the last 23 meetings. That certainly qualifies as dominance over a rival.

For the season, Thompson is hitting .354 with 10 home runs and 46 RBI. He has also stolen 6 bases.

The Gators are now 33-19 overall and 13-14 in SEC play. They host South Carolina to wrap up the regular season this weekend.
