The Jacksonville Jaguars drafted former Florida defensive lineman Taven Bryan No. 29 overall in Thursday night’s NFL Draft.

The “Wyoming Wild Man” was one of Florida’s standouts along the defensive line. The Casper, Wyoming, native was compared favorably to Texans’ standout defensive lineman J.J. Watt when he signed with Florida, and he’s still being compared to the All-Pro tackle post-NFL Combine.

The 6-foot-5, 291-pound lineman amassed 62 tackles, including 10.5 for loss and 5.5 sacks during his three-year career. Although he didn’t put up eye-popping numbers at Florida, scouts think he projects very well in the NFL. Bryan redshirted his first year at Florida and was a reserve his first two seasons thereafter. In 2017, however, he became unstoppable at times.

Bryan has rare athletic ability and traits and has a quick burst off the line of scrimmage, and he’s the son of a Navy Seal. So, along with a high upside, scouts love his makeup, too.

Exiting high school, Bryan was a 3-star prospect, and he ranked as the nation’s No. 45 overall offensive tackle and the state of Wyoming’s top overall player, according to 247Sports Composite Rankings.
