Tim Tebow knows a thing or two about what it takes to beat Alabama. After all, the former Florida quarterback led the Gators to victory against the Crimson Tide in the 2008 SEC Championship Game.

However, that was also the last time Florida defeated Alabama. The Crimson Tide got revenge against Tebow in the 2009 SEC Championship Game, and that began a 7-game winning streak for them against the Gators that is still active.

Florida, which is currently ranked No. 11 in the AP Top 25 poll, will be looking to knock off No. 1 Alabama on Saturday afternoon at Ben Hill Griffin Stadium. It’s a tall task, but it’s something that Tebow believes is possible, which he shared during an appearance on “The Paul Finebaum Show” on Friday.

“The biggest shot for Florida tomorrow is if they can get the momentum on their side,” Tebow said on the show. “The crowd behind them, playing with confidence. We see this all the time, especially in college football. Teams that should not win certain games find ways to upset people. You think, ‘How did that happen?’

“There’s no way when you look at the talent that should happen. It happened with momentum, and then what happens to the other team is they play tight. They play scared, they play hesitant. I think so many times when teams have played Bama, that’s been the way they’ve started. They already lost because they knew, ‘We are playing that team.'”

The Crimson Tide are already off to another dominant start, having opened the season with lopsided wins over Miami and Mercer. But the Gators also enter their SEC opener at 2-0 as they look to keep their early-season momentum going.

Florida and Alabama are set to kick off on Saturday at 3:30 p.m. ET on CBS.
