What Dan Mullen said after Florida's 40-17 win over Florida State
Finishing off the season with a win over another big program in the state is sweet for the Florida Gators. They did it with a 40-17 victory over Florida State, which ended the 4-game losing streak in Gainesville to the Seminoles.
QB Kyle Trask passed for 3 first-half touchdowns, including 2 to WR Freddie Swain. It means the Gators clinched two straight 10-win seasons for the first time in a decade. Florida did it early, as the Gators scored touchdowns on 4 of their first 5 possessions.
Here’s what coach Dan Mullen said after the game:
Dan Mullen: “Heck of a year for us, we beat the ‘Semis’ like that and then we beat Miami at the beginning of the year.”
— Kyle Wood (@Kkylewood) December 1, 2019
Mullen: “Resume-wise, I think we have a pretty solid resume to be a top 10 team.”
— Kyle Wood (@Kkylewood) December 1, 2019
“We’ll see, Baylor beat a 6 win team last week, moved up five spots.”
-Dan Mullen on where Florida will play it’s bowl. Well done.
— Mike Murabito (@mikemurabito) December 1, 2019
“We’re 10-2. We played a tough non-conference schedule.”
Mullen politicking some.
“We lost two games by 24 points to two teams that are top-4 in the country.”
— Nick de la Torre (@NickdelaTorreGC) December 1, 2019
Mullen on seniors: “I’m very thankful in them for believing in me.”
— Nick de la Torre (@NickdelaTorreGC) December 1, 2019
Freddie “tweaked his knee” Mullen says he could have pushed through but he could have made it worse. “We fully expect him to play in the bowl game, that’s why we held him out.”
— Nick de la Torre (@NickdelaTorreGC) December 1, 2019
“That’s going to be huge for us. I could sit here and talk to you for 45 minutes about it.” — Mullen on importance of new football training facility, which was previewed on video boards prior to game.
— Scott Carter (@GatorsScott) December 1, 2019
Mullen: “I thank all of Gator Nation” for coming out and supporting team, helping it go undefeated at home.
— Scott Carter (@GatorsScott) December 1, 2019
#Gators coach Dan Mullen: “I think we did enough to get a New Year’s Six Bowl. Maybe even more.”
— Graham Hall (@GrahamHall_) December 1, 2019
“The way we finished that game I thought was fantastic.” — Mullen on going hard ’til end

Have fun in the Citrus Bowl, Sideshow Dan!
Here you go again with the name calling. Although I can’t stand Mullen, your reputation is trash. Way to represent UGA. Your doing great!
Awww… cry baby cry.
Lol. Like I said…
Nobody crying here but you.
Who’s going to the Citrus?
Just knew the village idiot would make an appearance. Remember McElwain won the East twice. What do you think Mullen is going to do?
Lmao Lsu is about to whoop Georgia next week and usual Georgia will choke in again in their bowl for 3rd year in a row
^ Georgia class.
Corch is like the Al Bundy of this site. Everyone just ignores him.
Whatever you say Nostradumba$$
Man, undefeated at home and a top ten team. Wouldn’t have believed it possible to be here this quick. Love this team. Go Gators!
Best team in the State. Check
Undefeated at home. Check
Next up is SEC championship and playoff berth. We are ahead of schedule
Don’t jump to conclusions CO. Can’t claim a state title if we don’t play FIU. #theU
UCF wants us too, don’t forget
The way things are shaking out now, looks like Georgia will get boat-raced in the SECCG, but go to the Sugar Bowl on the strength of their Auburn win, where they’ll probably mail it in again against the loser of the Big 12 championship game.
The New Year’s Six will be touch and go for Florida. If Penn State stays ahead of us, they will probably get the Orange Bowl. However, if the bowl committee focuses on revenue they may go with Florida. But they could choose Alabama too. We may have a shot at the Cotton Bowl too.
It would really help for Utah to win next week, put the big12 champ in the Sugar. If Oklahoma gets in the playoffs, a 2nd Big 12 will go to the Sugar and take another at spot, probably pushing Florida out. It would definitely help if Alabama fulls below Florida but I doubt it, playoff committee has always been partial to Bama’s talent.
The big bowls try their best to avoid taking the same team two years in a row. So UGA will not make a return trip to the Sugar Bowl. I don’t get the nervous nellies with UF this year. Last year they went to the Peach Bowl after finishing 3rd in the SEC East and at best a tie for 5th in the SEC with Texas A&M. This year UF is #2 in the SEC East. With Alabama losing to Auburn – whom UF beat – that makes UF #3 in the SEC behind UF and UGA. With #1 in the SEC now a lock for the playoff, no way UF gets leapfrogged twice.
I think it’s likely they put Wisconsin above Florida this week and possibly don’t penalize them for losing the big10 CG. The playoff committee has always loved the big10, even though the top teams, OSU, UM, PSU, Wisconsin, Minn played a combined 0 games vs ranked OOC teams.
Doesn’t the Sugar have to take the top available SEC team?
yes, if UGA loses in the SECCG, they will be in the sugar that has a tie in with the SEC.
Really going to miss Greenard, Swain, Hammond, and Jefferson. Best senior class for Florida in a while.
Agreed
This class also had Franks and Trask, both redshirt juniors.
“We’ll see, Baylor beat a 6 win team last week, moved up five spots.”
The truth hurts. Baylor has not beaten a single ranked team. They played only one ranked team and lost. How does that put them ahead of Florida? Unbelievable bias.
The committee was moving them up in the top 10 so they were in a position to get into the playoffs if they won out.
After all, it would not have made sense if OU was a playoff team with only 1 loss that Baylor would not be a playoff team with 1 loss.
Though, I think Utah is the better 1 loss team and will be in if they win their Conf. championship game and UGA loses in ATL.
10-2 is a solid season. Only losses to 2 of the 4 teams in the CFP. Swept FSU and UM. Let’s hit he recruiting path and cement a top 10 class and keep the momentum going. Love me some CDM.
Maybe next year you can win a game that matters.
LOL that’s what you fools have been saying since 1980 and still applies today
To a true fan, every game matters
Wow, I can’t believe a Dawg fan actually posted that comment. Now that’s hilarious!
Cojones …..slang for testicles
This is the second time you’ve posted this. Looking up language translations on Google so you can sound clever doesn’t work. Cojones is Spanish slang for courage and guts. It’s like saying, in English, “that guy has balls.” The Spanish literal word for testicles is testículos. The Spanish slang term for testicles is huevos (which literally means eggs).
