Will Muschamp Job Status Diary: Week 2
William Wallace battles through his love/hate relationship with Coach Boom and presents his weekly diary on the current job status of Florida Head Coach Will Muschamp.
Will Muschamp’s Job Status:
Employed, barely. Head Football Coach, University of Florida.
Week One Recap:
Couldn’t even beat Idaho… I’m kidding. Lightning interrupted what was sure to be the greatest Florida win in 329 days. The game will not be rescheduled.
Week Two Projection:
Florida should always beat directional Michigan schools by 50. Anything short is a massive disappointment. With that said, look for Florida to win 35-13 over Eastern Michigan.
Strategy against Eastern Michigan
Defense: A shutout will more than likely be enough for Florida’s offense.
Offense: SEC action starts next week and the Gators play a Kentucky team that looks surprisingly competent, Alabama is Alabama and Tennessee looks dangerous. New OC Kurt Roper needs to reintroduce the Gator offense to the end zone and fast.
Little know fact: The last Gator offensive player to score a touchdown was Tim Tebow in the 2009 Sugar Bowl. Look it up.
Projected Florida Gators Record:
5-6
Chances of Muschamp getting fired this season:
100%. Muschamp needs 9 wins to keep his job and a surefire win was just completely erased from the schedule. He needed that win.
If fired, projected firing day:
September 14th, after 24-23 loss to Kentucky’s men’s football team at home. The Wildcats looked very good against something called the UTM Skyhawks. The Gators will be looking ahead to Alabama and Kentucky will be focused on the vulnerable Muschamp.
Projected Will Muschamp Job for 2015:
It’s only been one week but it appears that Georgia might have found their defensive coordinator of the future in Jeremy Pruitt. That’s bad news for Muschamp, who likely assumed Georgia’s DC job would always be there to cushion his fall from grace.
Instead, look for Muschamp to take over as defensive coordinator for the Seattle Seahawks after current DC, and onetime Muschamp DC, Dan Quinn, gets a head coaching job in the NFL.
How Muschamp can save his job:
A four game win streak will pretty much guarantee he doesn’t get fired. That will mean wins over Kentucky, Alabama and Tennessee, so yeah, it’s a reach.
What He Meant to Say:
“It’s says a lot about my job security when a lightning cancellation feels like a win.”
“I can’t believe no ACL’s were torn during that kickoff return. Last year we would have lost at least three starters on that play and one or two more during the lightning delay.”
“Florida State looked beatable, but with Tennessee, Georgia and Kentucky looking like they do I’m not sure I’ll be around to see that game.”
Muschamp’s Successor Power Rankings:
1.) Kliff Kingsbury
2.) Bobby Petrino
3.) Tim Tebow
4,685,220) Aaron Hernandez
4,685,221) Ron Zook.
4,685,222) Lane Kiffin
