Mike Norvell gets shredded by fans, media amidst FSU’s poor performance vs. SMU
Mike Norvell and Florida State appear to be well on their way to another embarrassing loss.
Florida State trailed just 14-9 at halftime, but things quickly unraveled in the second half for the Noles. SMU scored 28 of the next 35 points — including a pick-6 — to take a commanding fourth-quarter lead over Florida State.
Barring any historic collapses from the Mustans, Florida State will fall to 1-4 on the season with its only win coming against Cal last weekend at home. The Seminoles appear to be in a free-fall and might not be close to hitting rock bottom yet.
Penalties, inaccurate throws and other mistakes have plagued FSU all night long, particularly on the offensive side of the ball.
Given FSU’s other results this season, this has not been a major surprise. Still, it’s been a stunning fall from grace for an FSU program that started last season 13-0 under Mike Norvell.
Here’s some of the reaction to the beat down that is taking place at SMU on Saturday night:
Florida State is losing to SMU at halftime and I haven't seen it mentioned on my timeline. That's got to be the most damning thing anybody can say (or not say) about the Noles this year.

SMU pick-6. Florida State is getting punked in Dallas.
I'm still having a hard time getting my head around how bad it's gotten for the Noles so quickly.— Ralph D. Russo (@ralphDrussoAP) September 29, 2024

Mike Norvell dialed up two QBs draws on the goal line. That is fireable

The best play of Florida State’s season is this SMU safety

I’ve given FSU 4 chances. They are absolutely terrible. Worthless program and worthless choice of a portal QB. You have to try to be this bad. They’re throwing games I swear

Mike Norvell deciding to go for it right there instead of taking the points when your team hasn’t scored more than 14 points in the last 3 games. Epitomizes his coaching thus far this season.

I can not figure out why Florida State is this bad.
