Georgia football is still Georgia football.

That’s the statement Kirby Smart and the Bulldogs made with a dominant win over CFP No. 9 Ole Miss, 52-17.

The Rebels and Bulldogs went back and forth to start, with Lane Kiffin’s squad scoring the first touchdown of the game. However, Georgia’s usual dominance returned soon after with the Bulldogs at one point scoring 31 straight points. The Dawgs ultimately finished on a 38-3 run.

Georgia has clinched the SEC East and is a perfect 10-0 on the season with wins over Ole Miss, Mizzou and Kentucky. Another chance for a top 25 win awaits next week when the Bulldogs travel to Knoxville for a battle against Tennessee.

For now, here are 3 takeaways from Georgia’s statement win over Ole Miss.

Brock Bowers is all the way back

Brock Bowers made his return to the field for the first time since suffering an ankle injury against Vanderbilt.

And for the most part, Bowers wasn’t even rusty in his return against a top 10 opponent. He finished Saturday’s win with 3 receptions for 34 yards with 1 touchdown late in the 3rd quarter.

Still him:

Bowers will be an important piece in Georgia’s Week 12 matchup in Knoxville, especially with how Tennessee’s secondary has struggled over the past few weeks as the Vols deal with injury issues.

Sorry to ruin the mood here, Georgia fans; Saturday’s win over the Rebels and the above touchdown are very likely to be Bowers’ last at Sanford Stadium. That’s because Bowers is going to be a monster in the NFL and should be playing on Sundays for a long time to come. There’s not much more college can teach him.

Let’s see if he can get another title under his belt first.

Kendall Milton, Daijun Edwards shine in run game

Georgia’s RB duo of Daijun Edwards and Kendall Milton were able to do quite literally whatever they wanted Saturday night against a struggling Rebels defensive front.

The duo combined to rush for 186 yards with 4 touchdowns on 21 carries. Milton led all rushers on the afternoon with 9 carries for 127 rushing yards.

The Bulldogs established the run early and leaned on it all the way until the game was out of hand by the start of the 3rd quarter.

Ole Miss could not stop Georgia from the jump, but it felt like this was the run that officially put Kiffin and Co. to bed:

It’s nice for Georgia to see Milton on fire over even Edwards, who currently ranks 4th in the SEC with 90.3 rushing yards per game.

In total 5 Georgia rushers combined to stamp a 292-yard rushing performance for the Bulldogs. Andrew Paul rushed for a late-game touchdown to bring the total to 5 rushing scores.

Heading to Atlanta to face a familiar foe

Georgia knew it was heading to Atlanta for the 3rd consecutive season just before kickoff against the No. 9 ranked Rebels.

That’s because Tennessee was officially knocked out of the race for the SEC East with a lopsided loss at Mizzou. And because Alabama took care of business against Kentucky, we’re going to have a familiar SEC Championship game.

Both the Bulldogs and Crimson Tide have played very well this season, with a combined 19-1 record on the year. Alabama lost to CFP No. 7 Texas in Week 2.

Obviously, Georgia has won the last 2 SEC titles over the Crimson Tide and LSU Tigers before going on to win the CFP national title. This year, even though Georgia is the undefeated team between the 2, the gap feels just a touch closer.

The Tide are playing great football right now after stumbling out of the gate. The Tide are still alive in their hunt for a CFP berth, especially if they were to win out and down the Bulldogs in the SEC title game.

The stakes are going to be high. And after seeing how well Georgia played tonight against a top 10 team, it’ll be tough to imagine Georgia won’t be favored.
