Back in the Peach State, former Georgia QB Aaron Murray, the SEC’s all-time leader in passing yards (13,166) and touchdowns (121), was put on the spot about UGA’s quarterback competition: Would he start Greyson Lambert, Brice Ramsey or Jacob Eason?

Murray was being asked by a camper at his Macon-area football camp at Stratford Academy. The Bulldogs great handled the question diplomatically, according to Jason Butt of The Telegraph:

Murray obliged and gave the young boy his opinion at the conclusion of his Aaron Murray Football Camp at Stratford last Saturday. In Murray’s mind, based on his experience, he’d prefer to start a veteran (presumably Lambert or Ramsey) and allow the freshman (Eason) to catch up to speed before handing the job to him.

As a former redshirt quarterback, Murray has experienced the benefit of waiting a year before playing in the SEC. The current Kansas City Chief realizes, however, that Eason’s situation is different from his own:

Yeah, I got the redshirt, which was awesome for me. I’m a huge fan of that, to sit back and learn the speed of the game. I had another year to learn the playbook. It’ll be interesting to see what they do. Obviously if (Eason) goes out there and earns the job and it’s obvious, I’m sure the coaches will give him the nod and go from there. But the coaches have their idea of what they want to do and they’ll stick to it I’m sure.
