The Minnesota Vikings put themselves in position to win their NFC Wild Card game against the Seattle Seahawks with a chip shot of a 27-yard field goal late in the fourth quarter.

The reliable Blair Walsh had made three others in the game before and gave Minnesota the lead until Russell Wilson made his heroic plays.

Walsh though would not be the hero this day. His short field goal was wide right and never had a chance.

It is as disappointing and frustrating way to end a game of that magnitude as there can be. No one every remembers the kicker’s name until they miss. And so the Georgia alum is facing the wrath of everyone in this one important moment.

Walsh though showed his professionalism and showed exactly why every teammate had his back after the miss. In the ESPN video above, he squarely put the responsibility for the miss on himself.

Walsh has made a lot of big kicks in his career — many of them at Georgia — and so he knows this is the other end of that spectrum that every kicker has to live with.
