CBS Sports analyst predicting Georgia to win ‘by a good bit’ at Auburn

Georgia’s defense is ensuring that the team isn’t playing close games. And that may not be changing anytime soon, either, as the Bulldogs are dominating their opponents right now.

Through 5 games, Georgia has allowed only 23 total points. It gave up only 3 points to Clemson, while also shutting out Vanderbilt and Arkansas each of the past 2 weeks. Now, the Bulldogs will look to do the same against Auburn on Saturday.

The Tigers are a formidable opponent, considering they’re 4-1 and ranked No. 18 in the country, with their only loss coming in a road matchup against No. 4 Penn State. But is there any chance Auburn pulls off the upset, or at least keeps its home meeting with Georgia close?

CBS Sports analyst Randy Cross doesn’t think so, which he shared on the network earlier this week.

“You look at some stats associated with the University of Georgia right now, I mean, 4.6 — nice 40 time, pretty good yards per rush, but points per game given up after this far into the season? That’s ridiculous,” Cross said. “And they’re favored in this game by more than 2 touchdowns. And the last 10 years between these 2, Georgia’s taken care of that favored by thing pretty good, they’re 8-2 in those 10 games. I think Georgia takes this game and they take it by a good bit, more than 2 1/2 touchdowns.”

Over the previous 7 years, the Bulldogs have lost only once to the Tigers, which came during the 2017 regular season. Georgia has since won the past 4 meetings between the schools.

Georgia and Auburn are set to kick off on Saturday at 3:30 p.m. ET on CBS.
