Kirby Smart is currently on the market for a defensive coordinator and now has a few more spots to fill on his Georgia coaching staff.

The Bulldogs support staff down in Athens will look significantly different moving forward as departed defensive coordinator Mel Tucker took offensive analyst Jay Johnson to serve as his offensive coordinator and defensive analyst Tyson Summers to serve as his defensive coordinator at Colorado for the 2019 season.

Now Georgia’s support staff has lost two more members.

Former UGA offensive graduate assistant Cody Kennedy is off to Tulane. Kennedy has taken the offensive line coach position with the Green Wave. Kennedy announced the news on Twitter with the following caption:

“Excited to be joining the Tulane football family. Thankful for the experience this past season at UGA working with some of the best in the country. Ready for the future with the Green Wave.”

Kennedy wasn’t the only support staff member to leave the program recently as Wendell Davis has also departed Athens for a role with the University of the Incarnate Word. Davis was a defensive graduate assistant for Smart’s Georgia program. Davis played linebacker for Arkansas from 2006-09.

Davis is now listed as the co-defensive coordinator and linebackers coach at Incarnate Word. He announced his departure on social media, too, and added the following message along with the news:

“Thank u @FootballUGA @KirbySmartUGA @Coach_mtucker @CoachSchuUGA for the opportunity to work 3 seasons with the best players and staff in the country, forever grateful…….. BLESSED 🙏🏿 TO BE HOME!”
