Former Georgia RB Danny Ware spent the night at the Athens-Clarke County Jail on Saturday, according to a report from The Macon Telegraphs’ Jason Butt.

Ware was booked at 9:12 p.m. on Saturday and scheduled for 24 hours of confinement, according to police records.

He was still incarcerated at the time this article was published.

Ware was arrested in May 2015 on multiple charges, including DUI, marijuana possession, reckless driving and speeding. Rather than a new offense, Butt reports this booking could be in connection to that arrest.

Ware also has a 2008 arrest on his record for being a pedestrian under the influence on pedestrian roadways, according to Butt.

It’s unfortunate news for a guy that’s certainly had a rough 2016. Ware’s three-year-old son was tragically killed after being struck by an automobile earlier this year.

Ware won an SEC championship with the Bulldogs in 2005 and was a two-time Super Bowl winner with the New York Giants (2007 and 2011). He rushed for 1,510 yards and eight touchdowns during a three-year career in Athens (2004-06).
