Eminem makes personal plea to Matthew Stafford ahead of Georgia great’s return to Detroit
Eminem is a Detroit native and a diehard Lions fan. The Lions are getting set to face the Los Angeles Rams, who are quarterbacked by Matthew Stafford, who spent over a decade with the Lions.
Ahead of the game, Eminem made a personal appeal to his team’s former QB.
“Stafford, what’d I say? You owe me this favor, bro,” Eminem declared. “I was there for you when you won it. I was there for you. I was right there. I rapped for you, Stafford, bro, I rapped for you. Can you just let us have this one? Just this one.”

Stafford was with the Lions from 2009-20. The QB was traded to the Rams and proceeded to win Super Bowl LVI with the team.
Before becoming one of the NFL’s top QBs, Stafford starred for the Georgia Bulldogs. Stafford was a first-team All-American in 2008 and also earned second-team All-SEC honors that season. The QB is 6th all-time in career passing yards for the Bulldogs.
The Lions won their division in 2023 for the first time in 30 years. The Jared Goff-led Lions will face off against the Stafford-led Rams in Detroit on Sunday at 8:15 p.m. ET.
